The region of Uttara Kannada encompasses the sub districts of Yellapur, Kumta, Siddapur, Mundgod, Sirsi, Ankola, Haliyal, Bhatkal, Karwar and Joida. The region of Uttara Kannada is primarily famous for the Western Ghats, which run through the entire district from North to South. Waterfalls are a major attraction in Uttara Kannada. The famous Jog Fallsand Unchalli Falls are part of this region. Tourists can also visit the Magod Falls, where the river Bedti falls from a height of one hundred and eighty meters (180 m). Another waterfall, called the Shivganga Falls, is famous in the region and has a seventy four meter drop (74 m).
